Background
The Singapore Millennium Foundation (SMF) is offering the Singapore Millennium Postdoctoral Fellowships (SMF PDF) to outstanding graduate research scientists at postdoctoral level to support their full-time research efforts at a Singapore university or research institute. SMF will award a monthly grant* of $6,000 for every successful candidate.
(* where applicable, the Grant will support Gross Salary, Employer’s CPF, SDF and Contribution to Government Organisation (CDAC, MBMF, SINDA or ECF)
Applicants who are interested in a PDF position at NUS should liaise with the relevant NUS faculty to prepare research project proposals. The fellowships are awarded based on the quality of research projects proposed by applicants along with the previous records of the applicants and hosting scientific advisors.
To meet the needs of a changing and dynamic environment, the research areas supported by SMF for the upcoming selection are:
- Environmental Science, Renewable Resources & Water
- Engineering
- Physical and Materials Science
- Life Sciences.

2) Documents for Submission
- The documents are to be complete at submission. Incomplete submission will not be accepted for processing.
- The documents are to be submitted using the templates / formats given as per the website above. For your ease of reference, attached below is the list of documents for your use. smf_pdf-appl_proc20091009-Overall.docx
- 1 set of hardcopy (endorsed) and 1 set of softcopy documents are to be submitted.
- For the accepted / published journals to be listed in the "abstract of previous research accompishments" (see document 4 of the Word document attached above), the full name of each journal, volume & issue number, start & end page, year and date of publication, journal tier and author rankings are to be clearly indicated.
- Supervisors are required to brief the applicants before they apply for the fellowship. Please ensure that the applicants concerned fully understand the criteria / conditions / terms of the scheme involved. Do highlight that the pay package is non-negotiable. 3) Notification of Results
Results of the SMF 2010 applications is expected to be announced in June 2010.
